Questions about Mormons?

The Book of Mormon is truely another testamant of Jesus Christ! So many people out there wonder what the Book is really about. Is it about Jospeh Smith, Mormon, The "mormon church", or is it another Bible all together? So many peope have questions but they hardly ever go searching to find the answers. As in all other questions that we have, we need to search the answers. When we are doing our math homework and we have a question, what do we do? Most people would search it out in the book itself. They would look for the answer for themselves. It is sometimes good to ask people that might know the answer but sometimes people will give answers just so they can look smart or something. The same with the Book of Mormon. When we have questions about it, why not just open it up and find out for yourself what it is really about. Some people think they know everything that the "Mormons" believe but in reality, they dont. If you have questions about Mormons, ask a Mormon. If I had a question about math, i would not go to the English teacher or the P.E. teacher. I would go to the math teacher. If I had a question about the Catholic belief, I would talk to a Catholic. If you have questions about "Mormons" or anything like that, talk to a mormon.
Mormon.org is a great place as well to get some of your questions answered.
I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is lead by Christ himself. I know that The Book of Mormon is true and can bless you so much in your daily life!

Basketball and my mission

I love playing basketball so much. I love being on the court when the time is running down and its an intense game. Its seriously one of my favorite things to do. I know I am not the best basketball player, in fact, I am one of the worse ones on my team. I don't have to be the best to love the game. I dont have to make every shot or get every steal or rebound. Just being on the court and being able to play is amazing. Being able to have the ball in my hands every so often is what I love. My mission is kind of the same way.
I love being a missionary for Jesus Christ. I love serving the people here in the Santa Rosa Mission. Its such a blast. Being able to serve God right now is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Many people know I am not the best missionary alive, but that's okay with me. I don't have to be the best missionary. I don't have to baptize every one I come in contact with or even make every contact the most spiritual thing ever. Just being able to put the name tag on every day is what I love. Being able to change lives and bring my lost brothers and sisters back to the fold of God is what I love. I love what it says in the Book of Mormon by a prophet about this, 3 Nephi 5:13  Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.

Importance of Friends!

Many people today do not know what to do. They don't know who to turn to. Everyone has at least one person we can turn to and talk with. Even if we don't think we do, in reality, we do. All of us have a friend.

Friends make or break the person we are. If we have good friends, we will be a good person. If we have friends that lead us to do bad things, we will probably do bad things. Why are friends so important? How come friends have such an impact on our choices. I think I might have some answers. Let me explain.

Think of who you are around most of the day. Most of the time, its people other than family. Of course family relationships are much better than friendships but most of us will tend to go with our friends over our family. They have a great impact on our lives. I tend to look back on some of my early friendships. Some of my friends influenced me to do good. Others, to do bad. But I am the person I am today because of my friends. Early in my life, my parents told me to choose friends with the same, or higher, standards than me. They told me that because church leaders have told the world that. In the Strength for the Youth pamphlet it talks on friendships:

"Everyone needs good and true friends. They will be a great strength and blessing to you. They will influence how you think and act, and even help determine the person you will become. They will help you be a better person and will make it easier for you to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Choose friends who share your values so you can strengthen and encourage each other in living high standards"

I testify to what they said is true.

When I was in jr. high school, I had some really good friends. They helped me to become better and helped me do what was expected of me. But as we started growing up, one of my friends started making wrong choices and started tempting me on things that I did not agree with. I started feeling like I should not be his friend anymore. It hurt me inside to know that I was loosing a good friend because of his actions. Once I got into high school, I started making really good friends. We hung out every weekend. We did some really good activities. Everything that we did helped me progress in life. We were all members of the Church and we sometimes went to church together or even the temple. I was able to talk with them openly and the spirit was with us wherever we went. Those people are all serving full time missions in different places of the world. Its a wonderful thing. Because of my friends, I am doing good things. We should all seek to be friends with many people. But as we do that, use the power of the Holy Ghost to make friendships that will lead to do good.

The Strength for Youth goes on to say: "To have good friends, be a good friend. Show genuine interest in others; smile and let them know you care about them."

I hope that we can all become more like the Savior in showing love to everyone. I know that friendships built upon the teachings of Jesus Christ will be a lasting friendship.

Faith + Prayer = Miracles

This past week some wonderful things happened with myself and my companion. Heavenly Father blessed us. Although we always get blessings from Him, most of them go unrecognized by people. Most people think its just something that happened. I know that everything that we have is from our Loving Heavenly Father.
In missionary work, missionaries tend to do things themselves and not rely on the Spirit of God or on Jesus Christ. I know that I have fell into that trap. But that's not what we are supposed to do at all. We always need to rely on our Savior, to help us with everything. When we rely on Him, the work goes so much better!
One day just over a week ago, my companion and I sat down to plan out for the week. We planned how many lessons we wanted to teach. We had a pretty good goal to teach like 18 lessons when we remembered that our mission president told us to work harder and to teach more lessons. We talked about it and moved our goals to 21 lessons which is teaching 3 lessons a day. We made plans on how to do it. When we finished with our planning we got on our knees to tell Heavenly Father what we wanted to do and how we planned to do it and asked for His support. After the prayer we went out to work. We went and did what we said we would do. We prayed everyday and asked for His help. We were able to teach nearly 3 lessons that day and some days we taught 4 lessons. At the end of the week we ended up teaching 17 lessons. I don't say this to brag about how Elder Sherrow and I did. I say this because we relied upon the Lord Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. We prayed with faith. We worked with faith. We knew that miracles could happen with Heavenly Father and Christ on our side. I testify that as you have faith in the Lord, anything can happen!
We should all strive to do things the Lords way and not our way. As we do, good things will come into our life. Who wouldn't want good things to happen? Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the first thing that we need to make good things happen.
